The Course in Detail

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

This Could Lead to

The Functional Skills Maths programme is designed to provide a strong base knowledge in mathematics, as well as deliver the transferrable skills needed to thrive in a huge range of settings. You’ll learn how maths can – and should – be used in everyday life. Armed with these valuable skills, you will feel more confident and equipped to approach new employment or simply enjoy a more enriched daily life. The course is suitable for all; there are no entry requirements, and all levels are supported. You’ll be placed into one of five levels dependent on your understanding and previous experience with maths. You will be assessed prior to enrolment so that you can be placed into an appropriate level of teaching. All learners will enjoy a bespoke learning journey, built entirely around your aspirations and study availability. Plus, on completion, you’ll have the opportunity to progress through higher levels or explore different subjects within both GCSE courses and apprenticeships.

College Life & Student Support Services

College is not just about your course – it’s an opportunity to have fun, meet new people and explore your interests! You can socialise with friends in the café and comfy seating areas, join a club or sports team or attend exciting events around the college. Many of our enrichment opportunities are also great on your CV or UCAS application to demonstrate your commitment and enthusiasm outside of your studies.

Your time at college can also be affected by life or health difficulties, and it’s okay to need support. Our specialist teams are here every day to listen and give advice, whether it’s about career planning, financial support, mental health, or something else. And if you have a long-term support need or medical condition, we’ll work with you on personalised learning support to help you achieve your full potential.
