The Course in Detail

Business administrators have a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied to small and large businesses in a range of sectors. The role may involve working independently or as part of a team, developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services.

This Business Administrator Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable for you whether you want to start your career or develop your existing skills. The apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to learn advanced business skills such as planning and organising events, designing and producing business literature and managing projects, with greater responsibility and confidence.

Business administration is an important support role within any business or organisation and, with more experience, is an excellent starting point to progress on to team leading and management roles.

This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of a Business Administrator and, depending on your employer, covers duties including how to:

  • Manage personal performance and development
  • Communicate in a business environment
  • Design and produce business documents
  • Plan and organise meetings
  • Create proposals
  • Perform financial processes
  • Record and analyse data
  • Maintain records and files
  • Handle confidential information in compliance with the organisation’s procedures

You will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College for pre-arranged masterclasses.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.

GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) are preferred.

This Could Lead to

After successful completion of the apprenticeship, and dependant on your job role, you may have the opportunity to upskill to the Level 3 Team Leader or Supervisor Apprenticeship, or progress to relevant Level 4 or Level 5 university-level qualifications.

Alternatively, the business administrator apprenticeship can be a pathway to further career opportunities, such as roles in Marketing and HR or Leadership and Management.

Assessment

Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.

Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.

The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.

Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.
