This course delves into the essential role of the social care worker, focusing on ethical considerations, professional boundaries, and effective teamwork dynamics. You will learn the significance of handling information responsibly, adhering to confidentiality protocols, and upholding data protection standards. Key topics include equality and diversity, safeguarding, duty of care, and person-centred approaches, all of which are foundational to high-quality social care practice.

You’ll benefit from the expertise of experienced tutors who bring real-world knowledge in adult social care, enriching your learning experience and providing insights into the complexities of the profession. Our newly developed ward and home care simulation facility offers a unique environment for practical skill development, where you can engage in immersive simulations and hands-on exercises to prepare for delivering high-quality care.

This programme is designed to enable learners to access higher education or assist with progression into the workplace. It covers a wide range of key subject areas in health and social care, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the field. Work placements are a crucial element of your learning journey, with a minimum requirement of 75 hours in a real work environment, such as adult residential care homes, nursing homes, day centres, or health centres.

In addition to the practical skills acquired, you will gain invaluable work experience in social care settings, supported by guest speakers who share their insights and experiences. Personal development opportunities will further enhance your readiness to meet the challenges and responsibilities of the social care field.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need five GCSEs at grades 4-9, or equivalent (including English, maths and science)
 
OR
 
Relevant Level 2 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English, maths and science grades 4-9, or equivalent.

This Could Lead to

Once completed you can progress to a range of university-level courses, this can include HNC/HND qualifications within the college group or courses at university.

You can also progress into employment or into an apprenticeship.
