Access to Higher Education Diplomas are perfect if you would like to study at a degree level but currently do not have the necessary qualifications to apply but do have life experience and a willingness to learn.
Access to HE Diplomas are intensive courses offered over a single year on a part-time basis as an alternative way to university for people who have not had the opportunity to achieve the entry requirements necessary during their earlier education.
You will be required to complete an IAG unit “Preparing for Success” and then will be fully enrolled on to the course.

Financial Support
* Great news… if this is your first Level 3 qualification, you may be entitled to all of your fees being paid.
* If you take out an Advanced Learner Loan to fund your Access to HE Diploma, then go on to successfully complete your degree or subsequent higher education course, the Government will pay the loan that covered your Access course. Please be aware if you do not complete the course, you will still be liable to pay the full course fees. A deposit will be required at the start of the course if you are applying for a loan, but this will be returned when your loan is finalised. This course is eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
Important Notice
Please note that all courses are subject to minimum numbers. If there are too few enrolments, the College may cancel the course. A place on your chosen course is not confirmed until enrolment is complete and any relevant fees are paid.
You will require a GCSE grade 4/C or above in English, Maths and Science, and a knowledge of the universities and courses you would like to progress to. Some Universities will accept functional skills in English and Maths, so depending on your university or course this may be acceptable. There may be the opportunity to study English or Maths alongside this course.
If you’re looking to study a Degree in any health, social care or education subject, you will also require experience in a relevant area (either through work or volunteering).
Successful completion of an Access to HE Diploma opens the doors to higher education, such as a degree at university.
You will need to apply to university through UCAS and full support will be given. UCAS opens in September and closes in January for the following September intake. You will have to complete your diploma by the middle of June prior to starting university in September.
