In this Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship, you will be part of the frontline staff supporting and caring for adults in a residential or nursing home, domiciliary care organisation, day centre or clinical healthcare setting. You will also provide supervision, guidance and leadership for others and build your ability to make decisions and act autonomously.
You will play a key role in making a difference to the lives of people who require your care and support. In your own decisions and actions and through the guidance you provide others, you will support clients/patients to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, maintaining their right to choice, dignity and control.
Typical job titles include Care Supervisor, Senior Care Worker, Supervising Care Worker, Senior Support Worker, Relief Team Leader, Senior Social Worker, Senior Community Outreach Worker, or Lead Personal Assistant.
This apprenticeship standard covers the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to demonstrate competency of a Lead Adult Care Worker and covers key requirements to include:
You will develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours through on and off-the-job training and are expected to attend College for pre-arranged masterclasses.
You will need to have relevant employment, and entry is subject to interview and assessment.
Suitable experience within the care sector is required.
GCSE English and maths grade 4/C or above (or Level 2 functional skills) preferred.
On successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have the skills to work as a Lead Adult Care Worker and progress to further career opportunities in the sector. This could include a higher-level qualification such as the Leader in Adult Care Apprenticeship.
Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by a Professional Trainer.
Depending on the standard, we assess your competence through various methods, such as practical exams, assignments, interviews, project work, presentations or observations and we will also evaluate your portfolio of evidence, which documents your learning and progress throughout your apprenticeship with us.
The apprenticeship end-point assessment is the final evaluation stage of your apprenticeship programme. It's designed to determine whether you have achieved the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to meet the apprenticeship standard and perform the job role independently.
Successful completion of the end-point assessment is required to receive certification.
