The Course in Detail

This course is designed to help you develop the practical engineering skills that are in demand by employers. You’ll cover the essential skills and knowledge needed for all areas of engineering, including important topics like health and safety and how to communicate effectively in an engineering environment.

You will learn:

  • Hand fitting: Develop hands-on skills to shape and assemble parts using various tools and techniques
  • Mechanical Turning: Learn the basics of operating lathes to create precision-engineered components
  • Electrical Principles: Understand key electrical concepts and how they apply to engineering
  • Working Safely in an Engineering and Manufacturing Environment: Gain knowledge of health and safety regulations, ensuring you can work safely and effectively in any engineering setting
By the end of the course, you’ll have built a solid foundation in engineering practices, giving you the confidence and ability to step into the industry or continue with further study.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need four GCSEs at grades 3-9, or equivalent (including English, maths
and science)
 
OR
 
A relevant Level 1 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English and maths grades 3-9, or equivalent.

This Could Lead to

Upon successful completion of this Level 2 course, you may be able to progress to a range of Level 3 T Levels to advance your skills and experience, or alternatively move into an apprenticeship.
