The Course in Detail

You will gain an understanding of a range of essential jewellery tools and findings and what they’re used for. You will be able to develop your design skills by coming up with your own unique combinations for autumn themed bracelets including gems and jewels. This short workshop may inspire you to try more jewellery-making projects at home, for fun or even to develop into a side-business.

You will learn how to turn any loose stone into a beautiful wearable bracelet. You will choose from a selection of gemstones, local sea glass and coloured beads to create your own unique designs. You should be able to complete and take home at least two bracelets from this workshop.

Your tutor will be patient, passionate, and knowledgeable. The sessions will be informative, practical and fun, in a supportive and friendly group of likeminded adults.

You will have handouts to refer to and will be guided through two bracelet making techniques via a demonstration. The instructor will give regular feedback to you as they work and each you will be encouraged to explore your own design ideas through a range of stone types.

There is no formal assessment or exam. You will be taught through a mixture of presentation, discussion & practical tasks. A South Hampshire College Group certificate will be awarded following successful completion of the workshop.

Learners will be provided all tools and equipment needed for jewellery making. All materials, tools and tuition are provided. However, if learners have a special stone of significance that they wish to bring to turn into a bracelet, they are welcome to bring these to the session.

Likewise, if learners have particular autumn-themed beads at home that they wish to bring to complete their bracelets, they are encouraged to do so. However, a multi-colour selection of pre-made beads and gems will also be provided.

If you require further advice and guidance, the College has a dedicated Adult and Community Learning team who can be contacted by emailing Debbie.Waring@shcg.ac.uk
