The Course in Detail

You will learn how to help registered practitioners to deliver healthcare services to adult patients in a variety of settings. Accordingly, you will become proficient at carrying out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks that are required in a healthcare setting.
 
Training will equip you to follow standards, policies and protocols in order to provide high quality, compassionate healthcare to the best of your ability. As a Healthcare Practitioner it is essential to treat people with dignity, to respect an individual’s diversity, beliefs, culture, needs, values, privacy and preferences, and to show respect for those you work with but have the courage to challenge any areas of concern.
 
T Levels are two-year, Level 3 study programmes that have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses and are equivalent to three A Levels.
 
You will get a mix of hands-on practical training in workshops, classroom theory learning, and a minimum 45-day industry placement with an employer to give you real experience of the workplace. They also provide excellent progression into industry, apprenticeships as well as university. To work in this sector and achieve your placements you will also require a clear Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

  • Health and safety regulations applicable in the healthcare sector
  • Safeguarding
  • Infection prevention and control in the health specific settings
 
You will then develop specialist knowledge required for this particular sector including learn how to:
  • Carry out a range of therapeutic techniques to support Allied health professionals
  • Assist with the therapy support process and provide advice to help individuals develop and improve their health and/or develop or maintain skills for daily living
  • Prepare and maintain the therapeutic environment, equipment and resources for use

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need five GCSEs at grades 4-9, or equivalent (including English, maths and science)
 
OR
 
Relevant Level 2 qualification (merit or distinction grade) including GCSE English, maths and science grades 4-9, or equivalent.

This Could Lead to

Once completed you can progress to a range of university-level courses, this can include HNC/HND qualifications within the college group or courses at university.

You can also progress into skilled employment or into a higher-level apprenticeship.
