The Course in Detail

This exciting and varied course is for students with a strong interest and passion for art and design. It is particularly suitable for students who wish to progress to university or develop a professional career in the art or design industry.

This course will provide you with practical experience in many of the aspects of art and design including drawing, painting, sculpture, design, textiles, printmaking, photography, fine art, illustration and more.

As you progress, the course will give you the opportunity to develop your own ideas and specialise in an aspect of art and design that interests you the most. Tuition will take place in well-equipped studios with industry-standard equipment.

There are visits to galleries and museums both locally and nationally. You will also be able to take part in a residential study visit Ð previous destinations have included St Ives, Lisbon, Budapest, Berlin, Florence and Barcelona. Assessment is continuous through exciting projects, culminating in a final project and display at our annual Summer Exhibition.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English and Maths, or a full Level 2 qualification with a Merit profile and grades 9-4 in GCSE English and Maths. A portfolio of your artwork is also required at interview.

This Could Lead to

You can progress to our Level 4 Professional Diploma in Creative Enterprise course or go to university or art school to study a degree or HND in the many disciplines of art and design, or seek employment in the creative sector.
