This programme is ideally suited for those with a genuine interest in starting up a business and event management, but who also have the ability and determination to succeed on this academic programme.
There is an expectation for all business enterprise and event management students to help out at college open events and fund raising opportunities, both at college and within the local community.
This programme provides learners with an opportunity to gain an insight into the wide and diverse nature of this growing sector. The programme retains a strong academic base, whilst including practical units and modules. You will need to be confident, self- motivated and a good communicator as this will stand you in good stead for your research work as well as your work placement. You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.
You will also learn about the employment area you have chosen, and you develop the skills you need to start a career. Learners will develop both knowledge and understanding of the business enterprise and event management industries, as well as develop important practical and organisational skills to support their progression. The programme is made up of a variety of practical and theoretical units with each graded as a pass or fail. The programme is made up of 6 units.

– Developing work related skills and behaviours
– Applying Literacy in the workplace
– Applying numeracy in the workplace
– Working as part of a team
– Anticipating ab meeting customer needs and expectations
– Being entrepreneurial –
On completion of the programme, you can either choose to go into employment or into Further Education Level 3 Media, Marketing & Event Management. Students are expected to organise, with our help, a relevant work placement each year. In addition to this, they are expected to help voluntarily at college enrichment events around the college and with the local community.
All students without a grade 4 or above in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme.
