The Course in Detail

This course will teach you the basics of bricklaying and help you to gain the skills and knowledge needed to successfully work on-site.

You will learn through a combination of practical lessons in our fully equipped workshops and classroom sessions to reinforce the hands-on techniques and knowledge you will develop. You will also benefit from excellent English and Maths lessons to ensure you have all the entry requirements needed to progress to a Level 3 course.

The skills you will learn include:

  • Health and Safety
  • Understanding working drawings
  • Use of hand tools 
  • Basic brickwork and solid wall construction   and bonds
  • Cavity wall structures.

You are expected to complete 100 hours of work experience which will be supported through the College.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

Five GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English and Maths, or a full Level 1 qualification with a stepping stone English and Maths qualification.

This Could Lead to

When you complete all aspects of the course, you can progress to a Level 3 in Bricklaying or on to an Apprenticeship.
