The Course in Detail

Are you interested in understanding businesses, governments, and individuals manage money? You might enjoy a rewarding career in accounting.

This career path requires good communication abilities, computer skills and an enjoyment of working with maths and numbers. This course will provide you with essential skills and knowledge for your future career, including:

• Using Accounting Software
• Spreadsheets
• Payroll
• Mathematics for Accounting
• Creating Business Documents
• Bookkeeping Transactions
• Bookkeeping Controls
• Elements of Costing

You will also take on a work experience placement to give you real practical experience and help you to make important connections within the industry.

Entry Requirements & Progression

What You'll Need

You will need four GCSEs at grades 3-9, or equivalent (including English and maths).

This Could Lead to

Once successfully completed you may be able to progress to the T Level Legal, Finance & Accounting or T Level Business Management & Administration.
 
Alternatively, you can progress to entry level employment, or an apprenticeship in accountancy and finance. Possible job roles include:
  • Accounts administrator
  • Accounts assistant
  • Payroll assistant
  • Purchase/sales ledger clerk
  • Trainee accounting technician
  • Trainee finance assistant
