A jewellery-making workshop for leisure, wellbeing and social purposes. Learners will use memory wire to create at least one stacked bangle bracelet. There will also be the option to create rings or wine glass charms using similar techniques.
As we approach Valentine’s Day, there will be a hearts theme amongst the beads and charms on offer. There will be a range of other shapes and colours available as well. Your creations will be great for wearing yourself or giving as gifts.
You will gain an understanding of memory wire, a harder steel wire that retains its shape. You will learn how to use this wire along with beads to create a unique slip-on bangle bracelet.
You will learn how to use pliers, about different types of wire work, and you will use jump rings to hang charms.
Whilst there will be examples to follow, you will be given freedom to develop your design skills and come up with your own interpretations using the materials on offer.
You will learn about colour wheels and colour combinations in design, and use this learning when choosing your beads.
Your tutor will be patient, passionate, and knowledgeable. The sessions will be informative, practical and fun, in a supportive and friendly group of likeminded adults.
There is no formal assessment or exam. You will be taught through a mixture of presentation, discussion & practical tasks. A South Hampshire College Group certificate will be awarded following successful completion of the workshop.
There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course.
This short workshop may inspire you to try more jewellery-making projects at home, for fun or even to develop into a side-business.
