A Festive Jewellery making workshop for leisure, wellbeing and social purposes.
Create your own festive dangle earrings or necklace pendants with our special Christmas jewellery workshop!
Your creations will be great for wearing to Christmas parties or giving as gifts.
You should be able to complete and take home three different designs, in the form of earrings or a necklace – holly leaves and berries, a crystal Christmas tree, and a wintery snowflake design.
The course is suitable for beginners. Learners will be provided all tools, equipment and tuition needed for jewellery making. If learners have their own beads or other items at home that they wish to bring to include in their projects, they can do so.
Your tutor will be patient, passionate, and knowledgeable. The sessions will be informative, practical and fun, in a supportive and friendly group of likeminded adults.
You will have handouts to refer to and will be guided through jewellery-making techniques via a demonstration. The instructor will give regular feedback to you as they work and each you will be encouraged to explore your own design ideas through a range of bead types, charms and more.
There is no formal assessment or exam. You will be taught through a mixture of presentation, discussion & practical tasks. A South Hampshire College Group certificate will be awarded following successful completion of the workshop.
You will gain an understanding of a range of essential jewellery tools and findings and what they’re used for. You will learn how to use pliers, about different types of beads, and you will create and hang pendant designs using pins and jump rings.
Whilst there will be examples to follow, you will be given freedom to develop your design skills and come up with your own interpretations using the beads and findings on offer.
There are no formal entry requirements in respect of this course.
This short workshop may inspire you to try more jewellery-making projects at home, for fun or even to develop into a side-business.
