The Course in Detail

Develop your hand skills and build a strong foundation in traditional Carpentry and Joinery techniques. This course covers essential skills, tools, and practical applications to help you work confidently with wood.

Throughout the course, you’ll explore:

  • Cutting, chiselling, and planning materials
  • Choosing the right tools for the job
  • Sharpening blades and chisels
  • Marking and setting out
  • Creating basic and traditional woodworking joints
  • Installing skirting, architraves, and mouldings
  • Studwork techniques
  • Using levels for accurate work
  • Safely handling, maintaining, and storing power tools
  • Understanding different bits, blades, and drill bits
  • Selecting and using the right fixings and fastenings

By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of when and why to use specific tools and techniques in Carpentry and Joinery. You’ll also develop practical, real-world skills in tasks like skirting, architrave installation, and studwork.

A College Certificate is available upon request.
